TRAUMA THERAPIST & CLINICAL COUNSELLOR
Meet Cadence Michael-Almasi
Hi! My name is Cadence, a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) and Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), and I work to strengthen your self-worth and sense of inner peace. My approach to therapy includes gathering information about the root causes of your problems and to guide you through interventions that will allow you to regain control and make choices that better reflect the best version of yourself. I will carefully listen for the pain points in your story, teach you a little bit about how your brain and body are attempting to help you out, and present you with options for making changes.
It is my belief that you are working very hard to figure things out already, and I am going to help you with trying something different.
One focus of my work is attachment trauma. I have a clinical specialization in helping you to understand and address messy, unfulfilling patterns in your relationships. This may be a result of historical childhood trauma or in relational wounds as an adult. This impacts our ability to ask for what we need, to trust fully in others, and to have confidence in ourselves. My focus is on restoring your emotional safety and enhancing your ability to make empowered choices.
My Counselling Philosophy
My work is guided by blending attachment theory with a range of trauma intervention trainings. With attachment theory, we will get to know your relational blueprint, or how you connect with others. As we get to understand your attachment system, we will also be addressing how trauma may be impacting your brain and nervous system, and addressing both the cognitive and body-based legacies of trauma. My work involves a range of complementary psychological trainings, including TIST (Trauma Informed Stabilization Treatment), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and DARe (Dynamic Attachment Repatterning Experience).
As a trained trauma therapist, my work with you is based upon my development of a treatment plan that is always based upon your concerns and goals.

Beyond the Therapy Office
It would make sense that you want to know a little bit about me too. In no particular order, some of my favourite things include peanut butter ice cream, paddling, decaffeinated coffee, snowy weather, poetry by Mary Oliver, soft lighting, and merino wool socks.
My husband and I enjoy spending time making little updates to our home. Our pups accompany us most places that we go - I firmly believe in the therapeutic power of animals.
I understand how you might be feeling loneliness, heartache, and overwhelm. And I know that life can be difficult - I have experienced life’s challenges as a woman, wife, daughter, sister, and as a mental health professional. Through my own journey, and through clinical training, I have become passionate about helping you experience your world with more access to that calm, collected, confident part of yourself.
If my work resonates with you, send me an email at cadence@crescenttherapy.ca and we can book a consultation or a session.
